About Me

According to Freud, the two most important things in life are love and work.
I am super committed to both.

Being a social work professor--
I am lucky to have found a job that gives me alot of freedom and flexibility. I try to keep current with new technologies and encourage my students to do the same.
Recently I've emphasized material on conflict and mediation and group work skills. Both are critical for social workers to have.

Finding a happy medium between challenging students without unduly stressing them is a teaching objective that I'm focusing on more recently.

I have lived in Buffalo since 1967 when I first attended college at the University at Buffalo. I studied psychology, social work and sociology. I am indebted to my alma mater because besides earning my BA, MSW, and PHD at UB, I met my husband there.
My first professional jobs were in college counseling centers. After the birth of our son, I changed my job from couselor to social work professor. I've been working at Buffalo State College since 1977. An early student of mine gave me a banner which said: Bloom where you are planted! In the back of my mind, this has served as a personal motto.
My husband and I are empty-nesters for the moment. We enjoy athletics, reading, movies, music, and the company of family and good friends. We still work and play hard.

What a job!

I try to craft lesson plans that actively involve students in problem-solving and research.
